Small Road

Small Road

With a sore throat on my heels
And a bunch of shitty deals
Rests of cold tea in my cup
I took the small road to the top

Have to steer with sweaty hands
To get my car around the bend
No one here to cheer me up
I took the small road to the top

Outside there blows a ragging storm
But I have to carry on
It's too dangerous to stop
I took the small road to the top

The engine roars loud and deep
The road is bad, the hill is steep
Years ago I quit my job
I took the small road to the top

There are moments in my life
I have to use my overdrive
I have to twist that level knob
I took the small road to the

I've passed the point of no return
All my bridges have been burnt
I will fight until I drop
I took the small road to the top

Song & Lyrics: Stefan van de Sande

Album: On The Road

Year release: 2015

Year composing: 2014

Info:
I started to write the song in the summer of 2014. I was in Austria and had to go with my car up on a small hill to the venue 'Am Berner'. Later in Vienna I took a cup of tea because of a soar throat. And so the first verse was born. 'Years ago I quit my job' is evident for the song and the idea of going to the top, which has never been my real goal.
